New School Year

New School Year

New School Year via Polyvore

School's back! It's official; the whole campus is overrun with undergrads again. I happen to love the hustle and bustle of a busy campus, but it sure slows the wi-fi down!

I love pairing something sweet and feminine against a slightly "tough girl" look. Today, I paired a forest green skater dress (mine was a gift) with a soft pink cardigan from Target. Black leggings make this work-appropriate, and a little dash of pink, sparkly eyeshadow made me feel a little more made-up than normal. I've got a bad habit of wearing my trusty brown cross body purse with everything, but for some reason I really liked the contrast today.

Is it a faux pas to pair black shoes and a brown purse? If it's wrong, I guess I don't want to be right!

Neutral Palette

Back in the swing of things! Sorry to take off on you so suddenly, but a girls got to enjoy the summer before it's over, no?

Here's a quick little outfit I picked out on an unusually cool day. Fall is just around the corner, and I can't wait!

Jeans by H&M, tank by Old Navy. Purse is still available at Target in a handful of colours (I love the coral one!) and jacket is an old favourite; I think I picked it up at Anne Taylor.

Scarf/Vest Refashion

I'm always looking for new ways to wear my favourite closet staples, so when I came across this tutorial on how to turn a scarf into a vest, I instantly pinned it. It took me awhile, but I finally got around to wearing this look out and about, and I remembered to snap a picture for you!

My Mister and I went on a great double date with another married couple to see Much Ado About Nothing at this hip little theatre in town. This scarf/vest was just what I needed to bring some interest to my otherwise bland outfit. (Tee, jeans, flip flops... can you tell it was the weekend? Hah!)

If you've seen this floating around Pinterest and haven't tried it yet, I totally recommend it! This is a great way to get a little extra wear out of your prettiest rectangular scarves.

Sweet Fellowship

Sweet Fellowship via Polyvore

A little Sunday style for all of you. This Sunday was our last home fellowship group for the summer, and I'm a little sad we're taking a break!

This may just be one of my favourite outfits. I really wanted to wear this navy dress, which was gifted to me two Christmases ago by my sisters-in-law. The only trouble is that the top is a bit revealing! I paired it with a raspberry cropped cardigan I've owned forever, and this fun bird-print scarf that I also received as a gift. Voila! Problems solved, and it looks just perfectly put-together for a Sunday afternoon.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty on Polyvore

Argh, Mondays! Sometimes I'm really excited to start the work week (weird, I know, but I'm living out my dreams in graduate school!) and sometimes... well... not so much. Today was a little bit of both. I'm still totally wiped out from our very busy weekend!

This super-soft Hello Kitty tee was just the thing I needed to brighten my mood. I just picked it up at Old Navy the other day, and I couldn't wait to wear it! I also settled on my trusty Converse which aren't shown in my action shot because, again, I'm shooting these little pics at the end of the day. I just never remember to do it in the morning! Finished it off with some easy lip balm and a little splash of pink eyeshadow, and I was off to a better start.

Isn't that purse adorable? I'm sorely in need of a new one, and it's my new favourite colour, but I think it might be the wrong size. What do you think, yes or no to big purses?

A Little Blue

A Little Blue on Polyvore

A little work-day ensemble. It was miserably gray and rainy on Thursday morning, and I absolutely did not want to go to work. Instead of sulking around in a hoodie and jeans all day, I figured this outfit would help brighten my mood. It worked like a charm!

Here I am, albeit a bit rumpled (and dark, and grainy) at the end of the day. The blouse I own is from Express. These boots are the Unisa Tiffany Riding Boot in Cognac, and I love-love-love them. Too bad it's getting so hot; this is probably the last time I'll wear them this year! The skirt is a hand-me-down from Old Navy, and the leggings are from there as well. The lapis bracelet was a gift from my mother-in-law at our wedding shower.

Alright, it's time to get dressed... and it looks like rain again today! (Yuck.) See you next time!

Road Trip Love

A little more road trip love -- here's a peek at what I wore on the way back from the beach. Boyfriend jeans, striped tee, casual side braid, and Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti. I died over this colour when I first bought it, but after the coral red lip I flaunted a few days ago, I'm not overly excited about it anymore. Still, it's perfect for an everyday shot of colour!

Can you tell that I got some sun? Probably not. It's a big difference to me, though!

Roll Tide, road trip, red lips

We escaped down to the Gulf of Mexico for a week of fun in the sun. This is the outfit I wore for the day-long drive down. Here's the quick checklist of important considerations for road trip outfits: 1) they must be as comfortable as possible, with no tight waistbands, 2) they must be able to adapt to hot sun and icy A/C, and 3) I wouldn't be caught dead in my pajamas outside of the house, so they have to be presentable!

This GAP dress fits the bill perfectly, and that flash of red from the scarf and lip color was just enough to make this outfit fun. (Can you tell? I couldn't help but ham it up for the camera.) By the way, this Moon Drops lipstick in Hot Coral is amazing! The formula is wonderful and something about the smell reminds me of playing dress up with my mom's makeup when I was little. I never wear lipstick, but this single tube has converted me entirely.
